The reason for Tuesday's game even getting to overtime was because of Sam Ersson and Dylan Guenther. Ersson was brilliant, as the Utah Hockey Club more than doubled the Flyers shot total in the game. Guenther had the one shot that beat Ersson in the third period to tie the game back up.

In the dying seconds of overtime, Guenther won the final battle. On Utah's 42nd shot of the game, Guenther beat the clock and Ersson to hand the Flyers a 3-2 overtime loss.

It took just 2:02 for the Flyers to snap the scoring drought. Rodrigo Abols fired a shot from along the board at the left circle through a screen, beating Karel Vejmelka for his first NHL goal and the Flyers first goal in 182:17.

Through 20 minutes, shots were 12-10 Utah.

Early in the second, Utah got the game tied up. A shot from distance by Mikhail Sergachev through a screen beat Ersson to make it 1-1 on Sergachev's 10th of the season at 3:32. Less than a minute later, Tyson Foerster finished off a dominant shift with a tip-in of a great pass from Sean Couturier to make it 2-1 on his 14th of the season at 4:29.

The Flyers appeared to take a 3-1 lead at 8:44 of the period, as Travis Konecny fired a shot from the high slot, but the play was challenged for offside and the goal was disallowed after review.

The Flyers killed off two penalties and took a third in the final minute of the period, as Ersson helped them maintain the lead. Through two periods, shots were 25-14 Utah.

Utah came out firing in the third and finally solved Ersson to tie the game at 8:40. Guenther scored his 17th of the season on a wrister from the slot to even things at two.

That forced overtime, where Guenther played the hero with under one second remaining. His rising wrist shot beat Ersson and the buzzer to secure the win for the Utah Hockey Club.

Ersson finished with 39 saves on 42 shots in the loss. Vejmelka made 18 saves on 20 shots in the win.

Guenther and Sergachev each finished with three points. Barrett Hayton had two points.

The Flyers return home on Thursday night, taking on the Washington Capitals at 7 p.m.
