Galloway Township, N.J. — A Galloway Township man is headed to prison in a domestic violence case.

On Friday, 40-year-old Rashad Whitfield was sentenced to three years behind bars.

According to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office, on August 8th, 2025, Galloway Township police officers were dispatched to the Liberty Inn in response to a domestic violence assault.

At the scene, officers observed the victim bleeding heavily from the nose. They spoke with the victim, who advised that her boyfriend, Whitfield, had strangled her and repeatedly struck her in the face with his cane.

Whitfield took the victim's phone before he fled the scene before police arrival, but he was apprehended shortly after.

The victim suffered a fractured nose among other injuries.

This past February, Whitfield pleaded guilty to second-degree aggravated assault on a domestic violence victim.

Whitfield will be required to serve 85% of his term before becoming eligible for parole.
