TRAGEDY IN THE SKY, JUST TWO DAYS AFTER THE 18TH ANNUAL ATLANTIC CITY AIRSHOW

We just had a heart-breaking conversation with Michael Chait, President of The Greater Atlantic City Chamber of Commerce about the tragic news that a pilot was killed when a small plane, that is part of the Long Island-based GEICO Skytypers Air Show Team, crashed shortly after takeoff Friday in eastern Pennsylvania.

This was just two days (almost to the minute) after they left the incredibly successful 18th Annual Atlantic City Airshow - A Salute To Those Who Serve.

This latest air tragedy serves as a reminder about how dangerous flight can be.

The GEICO Skytypers Airshow Team had just performed at 12:44 p.m. this past Wednesday in Atlantic City,

ABC7 reported first that the crash at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport occurred around 12:35 p.m., authorities said. The pilot, whose name was not released, was the only person on board, according to Jacob Schmitt, a supervisor at Luzerne County 911.
