
13-year-old Killed, 2 Hurt in Middle Twp., NJ, Crash Monday Morning
A 13-year-old from Gloucester County was killed and two others were hurt in a crash early Monday morning in Cape May County.
Crash Details and Timeline
The scene unfolded around 4:45 AM when officers with the Middle Township Police Department were called to Court House-South Dennis Road (County Route 657) in Cape May Court House for a report of an accident.
According to authorities, a preliminary investigation determined a Mitsubishi Lancer was traveling southbound on Court House-South Dennis Road when it crossed into the northbound lane attempting to pass another vehicle, and it struck a Honda Accord.
Victims Identified and Injuries Reported
As a result of the crash, the driver of the Mitsubishi, a 26-year-old man from Woodbine, and the driver of the Accord, a 55-year-old man from Sewell, were both taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center-City Division for treatment.
Tragically, a 13-year-old passenger in the Honda, also from Sewell, was pronounced dead at Cooper Medical Center.
Court House-South Dennis Road was closed for about five hours while the scene was cleared by police, the Goshen and Cape May Court House Fire Departments, New Jersey Department of Transportation, and AtlantiCare Emergency Medical Services.
The Middle Township Police Department continues to investigate the accident.
