Cineworld, the company that owns Regal Cinemas, including locations in Mays Landing, Vineland, Moorestown, Cherry Hill, and Turnersville, has announced that it will reopen its American theaters next month.

Cineworld plans to do a phased reopening of Regal's U.S. cinemas and will begin with a limited number of theaters opening for Godzilla vs. Kong on April 2 and more theaters included for the release of Mortal Kombat on April 16, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The reopening will allow guests at limited capacity based on local guidelines.

While it has not been announced which theaters will be among the first to reopen, New Jersey has just increased its theater capacity to 50%.

Regal has 7,076 screens in 536 theatres in the U.S. which have been closed for the last six months or more due to COVID-19.  While some Regal Cinemas locations managed to reopen temporarily, they ultimate shut down again in October.

Cineworld also announced that it had reached a deal with Warner Bros. over theatrical window exclusivity for the studio's films from 2022. Under the multi-year, the studio's films will be shown only in Regal Cinemas in the U.S. during of their opening.

Warners' theatrical releases will have a 45-day window of theatrical exclusivity in Regal Cinemas, with certain provisions.

Cineworld's deal with Warners brings to a close a dispute between the companies over the changes Warners made in its release strategy during the pandemic.

In December, the studio shocked the movie industry when it announced that it would debut all its 2021 titles — including blockbusters such as Matrix 4Dune and The Suicide Squad — simultaneously in theaters and on its streaming platform HBO Max in the U.S.

We will carefully watch for exact reopening dates for our local Regal Cinema locations, in Hamilton Commons and the Cumberland Mall.
