Dramatic video has been released showing a South Jersey police officer running into a burning home and saving the life of a trapped man in a wheelchair.

The Evesham Township Police Department says the scene unfolded around 4:00 on the afternoon of Sunday, June 16th, on the 1800 block of Sagemore Drive.

Ofc. Kevin Long arrived at the scene before firefighters and learned that a resident was trapped inside the burning home.

Bodycam video footage shows a woman telling Long, "I can't get my husband out."

Without hesitation and under extreme hazardous conditions, Officer Long entered the home, navigating through almost zero visibility to affect a rescue of the trapped resident.

The two occupants of that home, both in their 70s, were taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

Ofc. Long, who is seen collapsing after the rescue, suffered smoke inhalation and was transported to a hospital for further evaluation and released shortly thereafter.

Evesham Fire and Rescue arrived and contained the blaze to the kitchen and prevented the fire from spreading to adjoining apartments.

This past Monday night, Evesham Township officials presented Ofc. Long with a commendation for his actions.
