Scott Barr, a retired Ship Bottom police officer, was driving on the Garden State Parkway on October 12th when he stopped to help at the scene of an accident near mile marker 39. As Barr assisted, a passing vehicle struck and severely injured him.

As a way to raise money for Barr, two hockey teams will be facing-off at Flyers Skate Zone in Atlantic City on Wednesday, March 4th.

The New Jersey Police Benevolent Association hockey team will be playing the Atlantic City Guns n' Hoses starting at 2PM. Tickets cost $10 and will be sold at the rink on game day. All proceeds will go to Barr and his family.

A post on the family's GoFundMe page on January 10th revealed the extent of Barr's injuries:

We are so excited to let everyone know that after 90 days in the Trauma Unit and 77 blood transfusions, Scott has moved out to Rehab!

Since the accident, Barr has been through multiple procedures and surgeries. Earlier this month, Barr received his first prosthetic leg and he was able to stand and take a few steps, according to the Barnegat Patch.
