The Perception Of Outsiders

May not be an accurate one. I met yesterday with a well known public figure who has had a number of direct dealings with the Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small administration over the past two weeks.

The Truth

The public figure reached out to me because he wanted to share that he had met with more than 10 Atlantic City Hall staff members.

He met with cabinet level, department head levels … all the way down to the line level staff.

He met with some in person and others by phone. Each and every staff member was highly professional, courteous and responsive.

Beyond All Expectations

Sometimes you get a reputation that you don’t deserve … both good and bad. It’s fair to say that some have a negative perception of Marty Small and The Small Administration. It goes with the territory.

The public figure that I spoke with could not have been more complimentary about every member of Mayor Small’s team that he encountered.

Staff Members Encountered

• Anthony Swan — Business Administrator.
• Multiple Department of Law staff members.
• Several other staff members in multiple departments.

Consistency

When you telephone Atlantic City Hall, there is a professional tone and a consistent greeting that you will receive each and every time. A standard has been put in place.

Sense Of Urgency

Government often gets a bad rap for moving slow … that’s because many times it does.

When you examine the facts … not the perception or the spin … Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small has instilled a sense of urgency at Atlantic City Hall.

This goes for getting things done and for being responsive to residents and visitors alike.

Conclusion:

Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small and his administration are demonstrating a commitment to public service. Small is embracing both friends and detractors in order to get things done.

I suggest you do what I have done over the past 5 months. Give Marty Small a fair and objective second look. You will be pleasantly surprised.
