The man arrested last week in connection with a series of break-ins in the north end of Brigantine has a lengthy record of arrests connected to other burglaries in South Jersey and in his hometown of Punxsutawney, PA.

Kevin Diluzio, 39, was charged with four counts of burglary and several other related charges on Tuesday, May 5, and sent to the Atlantic County jail.

Brigantine Burglaries

The Brigantine Police were called to a home on the north end of the island early on Tuesday morning,  after a call that someone had broken into a home while the residents were at home.

When police arrived, they initially searched the area without finding a suspect.

But, as investigators processed the crime scene, they received a report of a suspicious man on a porch on Vardon Circle, police said. Officers responded and found Diluzio outside a home.

He tried to run, but was quickly caught. Police found a stolen handgun and other stolen property hidden close by.

Brigantine Police identified other properties in the neighborhood that had also been burglarized.

Police are still working to preserve evidence, identify victims, and return recovered items.

Anyone living in the areas of Eighth Street North, Sixth Street North, Quay Boulevard, Vardon Road, and surrounding neighborhoods is asked to call the police at 609-266-7414 if they have surveillance footage that would be helpful in the investigation

Diluzio Has Links to Other South Jersey Robberies

In the days before the Brigantine burglaries, it appears that Diluzio was conducting a one-man crime spree around South Jersey.

He was arrested and jailed briefly in Hamilton Township on April 29 on charges of burglary, theft, criminal trespass, and possession of burglary tools.

Downbeach.com reports that he was facing burglary charges in Franklin Township and Hammonton.

Suspect Has a Record in His Home Town

An information search from Punxsutawney, PA. finds that Kevin Diluzio, then 29 years old, was arrested there in 2017 on burglary and theft charges after breaking into an apartment and stealing a cordless drill and various other items.

He spent some time in jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.

There is also a record of his 2022 arrest in Punxsutawney after he ran from police on an active arrest warrant.

The officer went into a post office and saw Diluzio. He called out to Diluzio to stop and speak with him, but Diluzio continued to walk away. The police followed and continued to call out to him, but he said he was not the person they were looking for and continued running.

After a short chase, Diluzio allegedly turned and yelled “why are you doing this to me” back at the officer. The officer told him he had a warrant for him, and Diluzio allegedly began running again.

Police took Diluzio to the ground, where he continued to fight to get away, according to the affidavit. When the officer said he was going to use his taser, Diluzio put his hands behind his back.
