Cape May B&B Gem Needs Your Vote in USA TODAY Contest
One of my favorite Cape May buildings, the Queen Victoria, is competing to be named one of the USA TODAY 10Best Bed and Breakfasts.
The three beautifully restored 1880s Queen Anne-style homes that make up the Queen Victoria are consistently voted as the best B&B in Cape May and were chosen by a USA TODAY team of experts as one of the country's top 20 bed & breakfasts.
Now, voters will decide if the Queen Victoria wins a place in this year's 10Best list.
As of this writing, the Queen Victoria is ranked at number 14 in the voting, so until August 3rd, we've got to get busy placing a daily vote for this Cape May treasure.
What USA TODAY Says About the Queen Victoria
Here's the USA TODAY10Best introduction to the Queen Victoria.
Cape May evokes images of well-maintained Victorian vacation homes, and the Queen Victoria is no exception. Just a block from the ocean, guests have their pick of luxurious rooms within three restored buildings that date back to the 1880s. Buffet-style breakfast and afternoon tea are also included.
A Little More About The Queen Victoria
The question with Cape May's the Queen Victoria is, what's not to like?
Just a block from the beach on the corner of Ocean Street and Columbia Avenue, the Queen Victoria features 31 luxurious, uniquely decorated rooms across historic 1800s homes, plus a lavish daily breakfast buffet and afternoon tea.
Built in 1881 by Dr. William B. Miller, a prominent local physician, the house showcases the elaborate, ornamental, asymmetrical Queen Anne style that reflects the social standing of Cape May's golden age.
The property's three buildings - The Queen Victoria, Prince Albert Hall, and the House of Royals - each feature unique and meticulously preserved interiors, and blend antique décor with modern comforts.
Guests absolutely love it, and many are repeat visitors.
