Famous Philly Swirl Pizza Legend Officially Opens on Ocean City Boardwalk
As we told you back in October, there is a new pizza shop up on the Ocean City boardwalk this summer.
Alex's Pizza is now located at the south end of the boardwalk at 1214 Boardwalk at the former Pizzeria Eataly and Blue Cactus Taco Shop between 12th and 13th streets.
They were open weekends until Memorial Day Weekend, and had their Grand Opening on May 30th, and are now open for the 2026 summer season.
From Roxborough to the OCNJ Boardwalk
They are a well-known name in the Delaware Valley, with a shop in Roxborough at the corner of Pechin Street and Leverington Avenue since 1961.
The Famous "Swirl" Style Pizza Comes to Town
They are known for their swirl style of sauce on their pizza and thin crust, similar to some other Ocean City boardwalk pizza favorites like Manco & Manco or Prep's Pizzeria & Dairy Bar. "I guess the swirl has its place in Ocean City," Rich Ennis, one of the five partners in the restaurant group, told PhillyVoice.com back in October.
More Than Just Pizza: Smash Burgers & Breakfast
The group that has opened Alex's Pizza in Ocean City is also the same group that recently opened The Rook, a bar and restaurant at 2708 Pacific Avenue in Wildwood. Alex's is more than just pizza, serving breakfast, smash burgers, and milkshakes on the menu.
