LEHT Man Charged With DWI, Assault by Auto Following A.C. Crash
A man from Little Egg Harbor Township is in trouble with the law after cops say he fled the scene of a crash Monday night.
Cops in Atlantic City responded to Route 30 and Grammercy Avenue just before 10:00 Monday night for the report of a two-car crash. Arriving officers found a heavily damaged vehicle with two trapped occupants. Atlantic City Fire Department personnel quickly worked to extricate the trapped occupants. Both occupants were taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City with serious injuries.
According to police, witnesses reported that the vehicle that caused the crash, a Chevrolet SUV, fled the scene with major front-end damage. An officer in Absecon spotted the vehicle and stopped it. The driver, 35-year-old Michael Olenhaus of Little Egg Harbor, was initially uncooperative with officers and was taken into custody without incident.
Olenhaus has been charged with assault by auto, DWI, and other related motor vehicle summons. He was released on a summons with a future court date.
