A Little Egg Harbor man is being charged with Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault and weapons offenses after allegedly stabbing his girlfriend at a home on Buckhorn Lake Court.

Little Egg Harbor Police said they arrived at the home around 12:14 am on Monday morning and found the 38-year old victim with multiple lacerations and stab wounds on and around her neck.

She was treated at the scene by police and Great Bay Regional Ambulance Service and then transported to the community center where she was airlifted to the Atlantic City Medical Center.

Calvin Smith, 36, of Little Egg Harbor fled the scene prior to police arrival and was later arrested without incident.

He is currently being held in a secure hospital and police said he will be later brought to the Ocean County Jail.

The female victim is in stable condition and has been released from the hospital.
