Shoppers World, which took over half of the space originally occupied by JCPenney, now has "going out of business" signs hanging on their doors.

The discount department store opened just in time for Thanksgiving, 2019, after JCPenney closed four months earlier and Sears shut-down at the end of 2018.

On their website, Shoppers World says they operate 40 stores across New York, New Jersey, Indiana, Maryland, Virginia, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, and Texas. Their stores carry a wide variety of clothing, shoes, lingerie, seasonal items, and school and work uniforms.

With this closure, Macy's will be Hamilton Mall's one and only major anchor store while larger stores like H&M and Forever 21 continue to operate inside.

Editor's note: We have reached out to officials with both Shoppers World and Hamilton Mall for comment; we will update this story should they provide a statement.
