Mays Landing Teen Facing Weapons Charges in Ventnor
A 15-year-old from Mays Landing is facing weapons charges after an incident Sunday afternoon in Ventnor.
According to Ventnor Police, a resident of Nashville Avenue contacted them around 1:30 Sunday afternoon reporting a suspicious male. According to the caller, the male knocked on the door to his home and asked for money.
A short time later, an officer located a man in the 5200 block of Ventnor Avenue matching the description provided by the caller. An investigation by officers found the man to be in possession of an imitation firearm.
The male, 15-years-old from Mays Landing, was taken into custody and charged with possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, and various city ordinance violations. He was transported to the Harborfields Detention Center pending court proceedings.
