We all know heroin use is a huge problem here in the Garden State. Now, Middle Township Police believe people using heroin were to blame for two accidents last Friday.

Police say the first accident occurred around 11:30 last Friday morning at the intersection of Route 47 and Railroad Avenue. They say 61-year-old Jerimiah Craver of the Villas was stopped at a red light when he was rear ended by 38-year-old Philip King of Burleigh. Responding officers found King to be incoherent. Cops found suspected heroin and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle driven by King who was transported to a local hospital due to a possible overdose. King was charged with assault by auto and several drug-related charges.

The second accident happened just before 6:00 Friday evening when police say 22-year-old John Stanton of North Wildwood was driving, his car left the road, and he hit a tree. Based on symptoms seen by officers it was believed Stanton had overdosed. CPR was started by the officers and a dose of Narcan was administered which helped revive Stanton. Stanton was charged with DWI and three other motor vehicle offenses.
