2 Charged After Millville Shooting Leaves 2 Dead

Millville, N.J. — A Millville man is charged with two counts of homicide after authorities say he fired into a vehicle carrying four people in the early morning hours of August 16th, killing two of them.

Another man from Absecon has also been charged in connection with the incident.

2 Killed After Gunfire Strikes Vehicle

According to the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office, Millville Police responded to the area of 815 N. High Street around 3:40 AM Sunday for a report of gunshots and found two victims.

32-year-old Ashley Brown of Cedar Street in Millville and 32-year-old Andy Steven Brazil of East Landis Avenue in Vineland were both pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say 50-year-old Daniel L. Gilmore, Jr., of Millville fired into a vehicle where four people were seated.

Brown and Brazil died; an adult woman and a young girl inside the vehicle were not physically injured.

Gilmore was charged on August 18th and taken into custody the following day.

Gilmore's Charges

Gilmore faces two counts of first-degree homicide, two counts of first-degree attempted murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun, second-degree certain persons not to possess a weapon, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, third-degree endangering the welfare of a minor, and fourth-degree possession of a weapon with a high-capacity magazine.

Second Person Charged

52-year-old James Harris of Absecon was charged August 16th in connection with the incident.

Prosecutors allege Harris fired shots toward a passing vehicle occupied by two unknown individuals.

Harris faces second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, second-degree certain persons not to possess a weapon, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and fourth-degree unlawful pointing of a weapon. He was taken into custody August 17th.

Investigation Continues

This investigation is being conducted by the Millville Police Department and the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit and remains active and ongoing.
