The missing woman from Mays Landing and her great-granddaughter have been found safe in Virginia after an exhaustive search.

WPVI-TV reports 71-year-old Barbara Briley and her great granddaughter 5-year-old La'Myra Briley have been found safe and sound in a wooded area in Dinwiddie County, Virginia, which is located southwest of Richmond along Interstate 85.

WRIC-TV reports Barbara Briley was flown by State Police Med-Flight helicopter to VCU Medical Center in Richmond, VA, for treatment. Five-year-old La’Myra Briley was alert and appeared unharmed but has been transported from the scene for medical evaluation.

The two left their home in Mays Landing Saturday morning on a trip to see family in North Carolina. Briley stopped for gas in Ruther Glen, VA, and had not been heard from since Christmas weekend.

Authorities continue to investigate exactly what happened.
