The Atlantic City Marathon and Half-marathon are scheduled for this weekend and drivers (and bikers) in and around the city should expect traffic delays.

A 5K and 10K race will take place on Saturday morning on the Atlantic City Boardwalk starting at 9:00. No road closures are planned for this event, however, bicycles will not be allowed on the Boardwalk from 8 AM to 1 PM.

The marathon and half-marathons are happening on Sunday beginning at 8 AM from the Boardwalk and the courses will weave through portions of Absecon Island. As a result, drivers should plan accordingly:

7-10 AM - The Brigantine Connector (Atlantic City Expressway tunnel) will be closed
7-10 AM - Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa employee parking and delivery entrances will be closed
7-10:30 AM - Expect delays on the employee access road to Borgata and at entrances to Borgata, Harrah's, and Golden Nugget casinos
7-10:30 AM - Drivers should expect delays on Bacharach Blvd., New Hampshire Ave., and Melrose Ave. in Atlantic City.

Delays can also be expected in Ventnor, Margate, and Longport from 9 AM to 1 PM, especially along Jerome, Atlantic, and Amherst Aves.

According to the marathon's website, the Atlantic City Marathon, which was established in 1958, is the third-oldest continuing marathon in the United States.
