New Jersey Police Officer Killed: Job Never More Dangerous
We literally just visited on-air yesterday with New Jersey Senator Vince Polistina and Atlantic City Councilman George Tibbitt about how dangerous the job of police officer has become.
Immediate evidence of this fact happened on the same day when a Newark, New Jersey Police Officer was shot and killed last night … and, a second Newark police officer is reported to be fighting for his life in critical condition.
The shootout involved a 14-year-old suspect.
According to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, shots rang out at approximately 6:30 p.m. last night near a White Castle and McDonald’s restaurants.
ABC7 reported this, citing the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office as their source.
ABC7 also confirmed that both police officers were taken to University Hospital.
The young shooter fired 29 shots according to reporting by PIX11.
New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy said last night that:
...This is a rapidly developing situation. Please pray for these officers, their families, and all our men and women in uniform who put their lives on the line to keep us safe, wrote Governor Murphy.

Joe Gamaldi, Vice President, National Fraternal Order of Police said:
Please keep all involved in your thoughts and prayers. A reminder that every number/statistic we share of officers shot/killed is a father/son, mother/daughter, a family devastated forever by the War on Cops. It's beyond heartbreaking..
The injured police officer is “fighting for their life,” according to the New Jersey State Policemen’s Benevolent Association, who released this statement.
There are conflicting reports whether the alieged 14-year-old shooter was killed or taken into custody at this hour.
Four police officers have been shot in thd past several hours … 2 police officers from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg, North Carolina … both are expected to survive … and, the two police officers from Newark, New Jersey that we have covered here.
Police Officers and Firefighters put it on the line each and every day. Here are photos of the Atlantic City Police Department & Atlantic City Professional Firefighters at work:
