HARRY HURLEY OPINION - EDITORIAL

The old expression, elections have consequences has taken deep root in Atlantic County, New Jersey.

When State Senator Vince Polistina, R-2 was running for office and returned to the New Jersey Legislature after a decade-long absence … he did so under the heading of, “I want to get things done.”

Polistina didn’t need the title or a second job. He ran in order to make a difference.

Polistina has achieved the appointment of the Atlantic County Prosecutor of his choice (Will Reynolds).

Polistina has worked with New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy to fill at least 5 New Jersey Superior Court Judgeships for the Atlantic & Cape May County court system.

Polistina successfully delivered a record amount of funding for Stockton University.

Here are more big ticket items that Polistina, along with New Jersey Assembly Members Don Guardian and Claire Swift have helped to deliver.

They full well understand that the tourism industry is the lifeblood of the Atlantic City and Atlantic County Region.

Having the proper amount of funding for the World’s Playground cannot be overstated in its importance.

The Polistina 2nd Legislative District team has delivered a historic level of investment in the Atlantic City area tourism industry:

  • $ 100 million Boardwalk Fund.
  • $ 147 million for roads and infrastructure.
  • $ 30 for Casino Reinvestment Development Authority capital improvements and job investments.

Regarding Polistina, all of these accomplishments have taken place in less than two years.

At stake on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 is who will continue to lead the region and the state.

All 40 State Senate seats and all 80 State Assembly seats are on the ballot.

The winning Senators will serve for the next 4 years and the New Jersey General Assembly is always a 2-year term.

Choose wisely … because elections have consequences.
