A man was struck and killed by a train in Asbury Park, New Jersey last night, authorities have confirmed.

New Jersey Transit spokesman Jim Smith confirmed that the man was struck on the North Jersey Coast Line tracks near First Avenue, in Asbury Park at about 9:55 p.m., (Sunday, December 5, 2021).

The man’s identity has not yet been released by authorities.

The North Jersey Coast Line rail service was suspended in both directions between Long Branch and Bay Head after the tragic accident.

New Jersey Transit police are leading the investigation into exactly what happened and specifically what train was involved.
