All five regions of the state continue to report high influenza. So far this season, four children in the state have died from the flu.

State Epidemiologist Doctor Tina Tan said it may be too early to tell at this point if the worst of the flu is behind us.  "We will continue to monitor the activity for the next several weeks."

Severe Flu Season Takes a Toll

As of last week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention was also reporting that this severe flu season is also taking its toll on the elderly, with large numbers of older victims and those with compromising health conditions hospitalized.

"It's shaping up to be a worse-than-average season," said CDC Director Dr. Thomas Frieden.
