NJ Man Stole 4 Tires From Vehicle, Replaced Them With Bricks, Police Say
Someone did the old switch-a-roo at a car dealership in Monmouth County.
Ocean Township Police said that they received a call from Seaview Jeep that reported that all four tires from a new vehicle in their lot were stolen at some point last weekend.
The suspect took the tires and used bricks in their place to help hold up the vehicle, police said.
Police combed through video surveillance footage and got a clear view of the license plate from the vehicle allegedly used in the tire heist and leaving the scene.
Shawn M. Alston, 47, of Neptune Township was later arrested on charges related to his alleged theft of the tires.

Those charges from Ocean Township Police are theft and possession of burglars tools.

Alston was released after processing pending a court appearance.
The stolen tires were recovered and brought back to Seaview Jeep.
