NJ State Police Arrest 15 Fugitives Across Atlantic County
Officials with the New Jersey State Police have announced that 15 fugitives have been arrested from across Atlantic County.
"Operation Summer in the City," as it was dubbed, got people wanted for aggravated assault, sexual assault, and weapons and drug offenses off of the streets.
Acting Attorney General Andrew Bruck said in a statement, "We’re working around the clock to reduce violent crime in Atlantic City and across New Jersey. Operations like this one are an important part of our anti-violence strategy, and I’m grateful to Colonel Callahan and the New Jersey State Police for their leadership and coordination in this area."
From August 25th to 26th, 14 fugitives wanted by state, county, and local law enforcement agencies were apprehended, including five documented street gang members. Last week, a 15th person was arrested. All were lodged at the Atlantic County Jail.
Col. Patrick Callahan, Superintendent of the New Jersey State Police, commented, "Initiatives such as ‘Operation Summer in the City,’ which have resulted in the apprehension of violent and recidivist offenders in Atlantic City and across the state, are successful because of the excellent investigative work and collaboration between our troopers and partners. Although the summer is coming to an end, our dedication to making our streets safer will not end."
