Jack Ciattarelli is the prohibitive favorite to win the Republican Nomination for Governor of New Jersey.

On the Democrat side, two members of the New Jersey congressional delegation are the favorites.

Congressman Josh Gottheimer would he the most centrist Democrat Nominee in more than 50 years.

Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill is also running for Governor of New Jersey. I would place her second on the Democrat side.

Former New Jersey Senate President Steve Sweeney and outgoing Jersey City Mayor Steve Fullop are also Democrat candidates seeking the Nomination.

Sweeney and Fullop thought that one or the other would be Democrat Nominee 7 years ago … however, along came Phil Murphy, who easily tossed the two of them aside like rag dolls. The two Steve’s never stood a chance against Murphy.

On the Republican side, Jack Ciatterelli is a human force of nature.

Ciatterelli came within a 51 percent to 48.5 percent margin in the 2021 Gubernatorial election versus incumbent Governor Murphy.

Had the National Republican Committee grasped what Ciatterelli was telling them … he could have won in 2021.

The New Jersey Republican Party was also at a significant deficit regarding vote-by-mail and the early voting process.

Ciatterelli defeated Murphy on General Election Day in 2021. Ciatterelli lost the election by underperforming in vote-by-mail and early voting.

This was not just a New Jersey electoral deficiency in 2021 … it was a national Republican deficiency … which has since been corrected.

Ciatterelli has also racked-up considerable Republican support in all 21 Counties.

For example, Ciatterelli has locked-down Atlantic County before the Primary Election season even officially began.

Last week, Atlantic County Senator Vince Polistina has formally endorsed Ciatterelli for Governor in 2025.

Atlantic County Republican Party Chairman Don Purdy has also endorsed Ciatterelli, along with more than 30 more key Atlantic County Republicans … including Assembly members Don Guardian, Claire Swift … Atlantic County Executive Dennis Levinson, Atlantic County Surrogate Jim Curcio and numerous others.

Ciatterelli has also earned the support of Chairman Mike Donohue and his vaunted Cape May Regular Republican organization.

I have spoken with Senator Michael Testa, who advised that Ciatterelli is clearly the front-runner in Cumberland County and has earned the support of a a significant number of allies throughout many years.

Ciatterelli has also done more to directly assist other candidates around New Jersey than any one person that I have covered over the past more than 32 years.

The 2025 New Jersey Gubernatorial election is now officially underway.

Make no mistake about it, Jack Ciatterelli is the prohibitive favorite to be the next Governor of New Jersey.

Both Ciatterelli’s previous hard work and history is on his side.

The Democrats have not won 3 consecutive Gubernatorial elections since 1961.

Also, the New Jersey electorate awards the candidate who loses a close election in the previous election cycle, with victory in the next. This favors only Ciatterelli.

Just ask Jim Florio, Christie Whitman and Jim McGreevey.

The smartest thing that New Jersey Republicans can do is rally around and line-up behind Ciatterelli. Save the money and a contentious, bruising Republican Primary.

Ciatterelli has already proven that he is capable of winning a General Election in New Jersey, which is very hard for a Republican to do.

My “Hurley Line” prediction is that it will be Jack Ciattarelli versus Josh Gottheimer for Governor of New Jersey … with Ciattarelli as the favorite to win.

NOTE: Jack Ciatterelli will be our on-air guest on Monday, November 18, 2024, for the 8:00 a.m. hour on WPG Talk Radio 95.5 FM and the WPG Talk Radio app.
