
Pedestrian Struck and Killed on Route 30 in Atlantic City
Dense fog may have been a factor in a pedestrian being struck and killed on Route 30 in Atlantic City before sunrise Friday morning.
Atlantic City Police say a 53-year-old woman from Galloway called 911 around 4:30 Friday morning and said she thought she hit something but didn't know what due to the fog. Officers searched the area and after about an hour, they located a shoe near mile marker 54 and then located the body of a man in the marsh.
According to police, the man was pronounced dead at the scene; his identity was not known at the time a press release was issued Friday afternoon.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash, however, toxicology results are pending.
