Philadelphia-Area Elementary School Teacher Charged With Manufacturing Child Porn

Philadelphia — An elementary school teacher just outside of Philadelphia has been arrested and charged with manufacturing and attempting to manufacture child pornography after federal authorities say he used a messaging app to entice two young girls into producing sexually explicit material.

39-year-old Eric Sanville of Norwood, Delaware County, who is an elementary school teacher in the North Penn School District, made an initial appearance in federal court and was ordered detained pending indictment and trial.

According to federal authorities, Sanville used a messaging application to entice two girls, both 8 years old, to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of creating visual depictions of those acts.

If convicted, Sanville faces 15 to 30 years in federal prison.

The case was investigated by the FBI Philadelphia Field Office's Newtown Square Resident Agency with assistance from the Delaware County District Attorney's Office Criminal Investigation Division.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide Department of Justice initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.

The public is reminded that the charges and allegations contained in the criminal complaint are accusations, and Sanville is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
