The Philadelphia Phillies are shuffling their rotation ahead of their series against the Toronto Blue Jays due to a mix of personal and injury-related reasons.

Phillies Rotation Changes Ahead of Toronto Series

With Wheeler bumped, the Phillies will move everyone up one day with Cristopher Sánchez now pitching Tuesday, Mick Abel moves up to Wednesday, and Jesús Luzardo getting the start on Thursday.

Abel will be filling in while Aaron Nola is on the injured list with a sprained right ankle. Nola threw a bullpen session ahead of Sunday's series finale versus the Brewers and will throw live batting practice this week, and a minor-league rehab assignment will likely follow.

His return to the Phillies rotation is looking like it could be mid-to-late June.

Able has made one start at the big league level against the Pittsburgh Pirates before getting sent back to Triple-A.  Now he will make a least a couple starts in place of Nola.

Wheeler, meanwhile, is coming off a performance in which he struggled, giving up six runs on four hits over his 5 1/3 innings of work against the Braves. Now he will have to wait until at least Friday before he gets a chance to erase that outing from his mind.

The Phillies are off Monday and will open their three-game series on Tuesday.
