Pleasantville, NJ, Man Admits Killing Pregnant Girlfriend With Baseball Bat
Pleasantville, N.J. — A South Jersey man has admitted to beating his pregnant girlfriend to death in 2024.
On Tuesday, 28-year-old Boris Lainez-Rosales of Pleasantville pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree murder in connection with the death of 25-year-old Leslianette Quintana-Betancourt, also of Pleasantville.
Victim Was Pregnant at the Time
The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said in pleading guilty, Lainez-Rosales admitted that on December 2nd, 2024, he assaulted the victim, who was his domestic partner and pregnant at the time, with a baseball bat at his home in Pleasantville, causing her death.
According to reporting by The Courier-Post, he allegedly told police that Quintana-Betancourt had fallen down 12 steps before he made a 9-1-1 call reporting she was unresponsive. Police found the woman at the bottom of a stairway.
Quintana-Betancourt had injuries to her face, arms, and abdomen; Lainez-Rosales had cuts on his hands "and smelled of bleach," according to a probable cause statement cited by The Courier-Post, along with "evidence of attempts to clean up biological evidence."
In the backyard, investigators found possible blood stains on a baseball bat and on a bag in the trunk of his car.
Facing 30 Years Without Parole
Sentencing is scheduled for July 31st. The plea calls for a recommended sentence of 30 years in state prison without the possibility of parole.
This investigation was a cooperative effort between the Pleasantville Police Department and the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office's Major Crimes Unit.
