Prices Higher at Every Dollar Tree in NJ
The amount you spend on four items will now cost you what you used to spend for five items at every Dollar Tree in New Jersey and across the U.S.
More than two months ahead of schedule, all Dollar Tree stores in the country have converted to a $1.25 price point, the company announced on Wednesday.
Dollar Tree had announced in November that the move was in the works. And you'll likely spot even higher prices in the weeks or months ahead.
Many stores in the Garden State made the switch in late February. Some locations closed early on the day prior to the price change, so workers would have enough time to post new signage throughout the aisles.
Nearly every item in New Jersey stores are priced at $1.25. Very few items, such as some canned foods, are still selling for a $1, and you can purchase select greeting cards for 50 cents.
The company noted that it's also seeing "terrific performance" from its $3 and $5 Plus assortment in Dollar Tree stores. Dollar Tree said its price hikes aren't based on inflation; instead, the move will allow the chain to offer a wider range of merchandise.
