Prosecutor Damon Tyner Takes Over Linwood Police Department

Retroactive, effective on January 1, 2021, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner says, following an investigation into several complaints, “As such, I am compelled to exercise the authority over the day to day activities of the Linwood Police Department until further notice."

Allegations center around alleged misconduct by Linwood Chief of Police John Hamilton.

Before some jump to false conclusions, the Prosecutor has the statutory authority vested in the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.

Linwood City Council took formal action by placing Hamilton on paid administrative leave of absence.

Additionally, Captain Jason Weber has been named the Acting Chief until the personnel matters are resolved.
