Prosecutor: Two Mizpah Volunteer Firefighters Charged
Two members of the Mizpah Volunteer Fire Company have been charged with official misconduct, conspiracy, and theft.
Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner says the charges follow a search warrant being executed at the fire house Tuesday morning.
According to Tyner's office,
Pursuant to an ongoing criminal investigation, led by ACPO Detectives Michael Peterson and Mark Perna, on September 29, 2020, members of the ACPO/Office of Professional standards and Accountability and the Township of Hamilton Police Department executed a Search and Seizure Warrant at the Mizpah Volunteer Fire Company in Hamilton Township. This official misconduct and theft investigation of MVFC members is connected to allegations of the creation of unauthorized account(s) at NAPA Auto Parts, using the MVFC funds and tax exempt status.
38-year-old Craig Paxton and 38-year-old Jay Davenport have both been charged with official misconduct, theft, and conspiracy.
Both were released on summonses and their first court appearances are scheduled for the morning of October 28th.
