North Wildwood, N.J. — A Rio Grande man has been charged in connection with a burglary investigation that began more than six years ago.

Burglary Investigation Began in 2020

According to the North Wildwood Police Department, on February 10th, 2020, its officers responded to a report of a burglary at a construction site near 300 E. 7th Avenue.

The contractor reported a broken window at a residence and blood in the area of the window as well as inside the home.

Detectives processed the scene, collecting photographs and several items of evidence, including blood samples. It was also discovered that personal property was taken from the residence.

2026 Developments

On May 13th of this year, the department said it received an Investigative Hit Notification from the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS). The notification allegedly indicated that 46-year-old Pablo C. Galeano from Rio Grande was a DNA match to the evidence collected during the 2020 investigation.

Charges Filed More Than 6 Years Later

This past Thursday, June 18th, Galeano was charged with burglary, theft, and criminal mischief. He was processed and released on a summons in accordance with New Jersey’s bail reform guidelines.
