GLASSBORO — A Rowan University police officer was struck and injured during a traffic stop on Saturday night.

Rowan University spokeman Dr. Jose Cardona said officer Russell Comolingo pulled over a vehicle on Route 322, which runs through the Glasssboro campus, and was hit by another vehicle.

Comolingo, a five year veteran of the Rowan force, received stitches for facial laceraations and treated for broken bone in his face and expected to be released on Sunday morning.

The 21-year-old woman driving the second vehicle immediately stopped following the incident and was also treated for minor injuries, according to Cardona, who said she was not under the influence and the incident is considered accidental. Cardona said no charges have yet been filed.

The Glassboro Fire Department, which posted on their Facebook page that they assisted with the crash scene, wished a speedy recovery to the injured officer.
