
One Dead, Several Ejected in Parkway Rollover Crash in Marmora
One person is dead and five others are injured, including some children, after a crash on the Garden State Parkway in Upper Township on Wednesday, according to state police.
It happened around 2:30 PM on the southbound lanes of the Parkway near Exit 25 in Marmora. Several passengers were reportedly ejected from a vehicle and at least one person was trapped inside.
The Marmora Volunteer Fire Department along with the Upper Township Division of EMS, the Seaville Fire and Rescue and the Tuckahoe Volunteer Fire Company were among the responders to the crash at mile marker 26.9 southbound of the Garden State Parkway.
According to a Facebook post from the Marmora Volunteer Fire Company, first responders found a chaotic scene.

….a motor vehicle crash with a rollover, ejections and entrapment. Several patients (were) ejected and one patient (was) still in the vehicle. Due to the multiple patients involved additional resources were requested including Ocean Fire Department, Somers Point Fire. Egg Harbor Township EMS, Belleplain EMS, Sea Isle EMS. AtlantiCare paramedics and the AtlantiCare Mass Casualty Unit was also on the scene.
An EMS “strike team” consisting of ambulances from Cape May County including Avalon, Middle Township, and North Wildwood were either en route or staged to assist on the Parkway or to cover the Township in case of another Emergency. Two of the patients were flown via helicopter to Cooper Hospital in Camden the rest were transported via ambulance to several area hospitals.
6ABC reports that state police say the driver lost control of the vehicle and drove off the highway. A front seat passenger was killed in the crash. The driver and four juveniles in the vehicle were rushed to area hospitals. Police said two of the children suffered serious injuries.
