Stockton University, under President Harvey Kesselman has been on a great roll ... yes, even during a global health pandemic ... which has impacted every facet of human existence.

Stockton University is providing a FREE summer youth rowing program for underserved Atlantic City middle school students.

We will be discussing this program on-air this Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at 8:05 a.m. (“Hurley in the Morning on WPG Talk Radio 95.5) with Lynne Kesselman, John Bancheri - Stockton University Head Rowing Coach & Technicsl Director and fellow Stockton University Summer Youth Rowing Program founding member, Linda Novelli.

You cannot overstate How important a program like this is for students. For students who commit themselves, rowing is a phenomenal sport.

It builds great life character and requires a profound work ethic and discipline.

There are also many scholarship opportunities and “doors” that can be opened  in this sport for those who properly commit

Stockton University Summer Youth Rowing Program Founding Members include:

Bancheri, Kesselman, Novelli, Ellen Farber, Walter Johnson, Joseph Maguire, Kevin McHugh, Patricia Perry, Bernadette Ritzel, John Rosado and Stephen Strauss.

This summer youth program is “priceless.” Participants will have access to the incredible Stockton University state of the art facilities and equipment, along with tutelage from the experienced Stockton University rowing coaches, along with current Stockton rowing athletes, and athletic trainer and lifeguard.

This summer youth program is being made possible at no cost to the participants because of the generosity of our community partners (Stockton University), who are committed to improving the lives of local youth.

Participants will be making their own contribution to the program by assisting with the maintenance of the equipment during the Summer program season.

Provide an opportunity for underserved Atlantic City youth to develop leadership skills, confidence and personal growth through rowing.

The summer youth rowing program is committed to increasing access to any training in rowing, as well as providing a safe, positive and inclusive environment to Atlantic City youth. To ensure staff to participant ratio, the program is limited to a maximum of 40 students with the following requirements:

  • Permanent resident of Atlantic City
  • Entering sixth, seventh or eighth grade and fall, 2021
  • Full commitment to participate for six weeks.
