
Stolen Atlantic City, NJ, ‘Heart’ Guitar Has Been Recovered
The famous music rock band Heart had two instruments stolen during a recent performance at Hard Rock Casino Hotel Atlantic City.
The Atlantic City Police Department has confirmed the Fender Telecaster guitar was recovered by Atlantic City Police Sergeant Gary Holmes and Detective Lisa Kaplin-Caldwell.
Here’s How The Atlantic City Police Did It
The investigators utilized surveillance cameras to track the movements of the arrested suspect, Garfield Bennett, after the theft. Bennett was observed giving the guitar to a woman who put the guitar in a vehicle in the 1300 block of Pacific Avenue, said the Atlantic City Police Department.
Great Atlantic City Police Detective Work
The Atlantic City Police Department utilized their automated license plate readers and were able to identify the car the woman was driving was in Atlantic City.
Officer Robert McDevitt quickly located the car and was able to speak with the driver.
“The guitar was voluntarily surrendered and detectives learned that the woman purchased it from Bennett,” said the Atlantic City Police Department.
Atlantic City Police Chief Jim Sarkos Said:
The continued use of advancing technology and the hard work and determination from our detectives and patrol officers led to the quick recovery of one of the missing instruments. The Atlantic City Police Department embraces technology that allows our officers to investigate and combat crime, said Sarkos.
One “Heart” Instrument Is Still Missing
The Atlantic City Police Department has confirmed that they have turned the guitar over to the Hard Rock Atlantic City.
Representatives of Hard Rock will be turn the instrument over to the Heart band members.
The location of the precious mandolin is still being investigated by the Atlantic City Police Department.
