Steakhouses in New Jersey are different, in a good way. Maybe it’s old-school charm that many restaurants have, or it’s just the fact that Jersey knows how to cook a steak without messing around. Whatever it is, if you’re craving a thick, juicy cut cooked to perfection, our state has you covered.

It’s Not Just About the Steak

Sure, the steak is the star of the show, but it's the whole experience that makes these spots truly memorable. You walk in, and there’s usually dim lighting, big booths, and a menu that makes you wish you were hungrier. You might start with bacon that’s thicker than your phone, or oysters so fresh they still think they’re in the ocean. Then comes the steak, ribeye, porterhouse, filet, you name it. It arrives sizzling, usually with a side of creamed spinach or truffle fries that taste like they came from heaven.

Jersey Does It Right

From North Jersey to the Shore, there’s no shortage of places where you can treat yourself or impress a date. You’ve got the fancy city-style steakhouses with white tablecloths and wine lists that go on for days, and you’ve also got the gems with wood-paneled walls and regulars who’ve been coming since the ‘80s. Either way, you’re walking out full, happy, and possibly in need of a nap.

Some folks say New York’s got the best steakhouses, but it's really a close call. Jersey has the flavor, the attitude, and that no-nonsense vibe that makes every bite taste just a little better. Needless to say, we take our steakhouses seriously.

That's why news of an NJ hotspot closing has people talking. But, take a breath. This closing is only temporary.

The Pub in Pennsauken has been grilling steaks to perfection for over 74 years. I noticed on Facebook that they are shutting the doors to the beloved restaurant for the second summer in a row. Your last day to grab a bite will be June 29. The Pub is scheduled to reopen on September 19. Insiders say it's so they can complete necessary renovations and allow staff to take some time off.
