Last year, right before Halloween, we did our own informal survey of Favorite Halloween Candy in Atlantic and Cape May County, New Jersey.
The oldest candy that made our previous list was first established in the 13th Century. That's the year 1300, or, more than 700 years ago.

FUN FACT: The candy called “Smarties” is still made in New Jersey and they are made by 5th Generation Candy makers. Smarties were created by Edward Dee. Dee died in 2019 at the age of 95 years old. His family still makes them today.
