A 19-year-old man from Swainton is facing a list of charges after cops say he shot flares at and into homes early Tuesday morning.

Middle Township Police say they responded to the 300 block of West Anna Street in the Whitesboro section of the township and the 300 block of Goshen Road in Cape May Court House just before sunrise Tuesday for the report that homes had been shot with flares.

At the home on West Anna Street, cops say there was damage to the front of the house and a window was broken. At the residence on Goshen Road, a flare was shot through a window and caught the carpet on fire; burn marks were discovered on the outside of the house.

Following an investigation, 19-year-old James Dehainaut of Swainton was arrested and charged with two counts of Aggravated Arson, two counts of Employing a Juvenile in a Crime, two counts of Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, two counts of Receiving Stolen Property, and one count of Aggravated Assault. Dehainaut was lodged in the Cape May County Jail.

The investigation revealed that there were also two juveniles involved in these incidents and their arrests are pending.
