Authorities in Atlantic City say yet another Kia was stolen in the World's Play Ground -- but, unbeknownst to two teenagers, that particular car had mechanical issues and it lead to their arrest.

Last Friday afternoon at around 2:20, two ACPD officers observed a Kia Rio that was reported stolen earlier in the day in the area of the 1200 block of Drexel Avenue.

As the officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver sped off, which led to a pursuit.

The driver, 14, led officers to Route 30 where he proceeded to drive westbound. As the vehicle was leaving Atlantic City, the officers terminated the pursuit. Shortly after, the vehicle was observed slowing down. Officers learned that this stolen vehicle had a history of overheating if driven at certain speeds.

Upon realizing the car had issues, the duo jumped out while it was still moving, however, police were able to catch both suspects.

Police say the driver was found in possession of four USB cables and two screwdrivers. He was also found to have an active warrant for his arrest. The passenger was in possession of a screwdriver. These items are common tools in the theft of certain Hyundai and Kia vehicles.

After exiting the moving vehicle, the vehicle drifted off the roadway and was slightly damaged.
