It’s not an urban legend. It really happened. Following their epic concert at the Atlantic City Convention Hall on August 30, 1964, The Beatles did order and consume a gigantic, legendary submarine sandwich from The White House Sub Shop.

During our brief walk down memory lane, we’ll set the record straight on a few things.

First, while it’s a popular local legendary, The Beatles did not actually visit The White House Sub Shop in person.

This doesn’t diminish this great story. But, the massive 6-foot (probably more like 4-foot) submarine sandwich was actually delivered directly to The Beatles at their 7th-floor suite at the Lafayette Motor Inn.

The photo below, which still hangs in The White House Sub Shop more than 62 years later, proves this point.

Brian Senft confirmed on Facebook a year or so ago as follows:

It's not true! Bobby P (Palmyra) the man sitting in white shirt delivered for Tony the owner of White House Subs The Beatles were never on the property, write Senft.
