Three Injured, One Critically, in Ocean County Crash Tuesday Morning
Cops in Ocean County say three people were injured, one critically, in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning on Route 37.
The Manchester Township Police Department says their officers responded to Route 37 near Bone Hill Road at around 7:45 AM Tuesday for the report of an accident.
There, police say,
...officers observed a blue, 2008, Saturn Vue with extensive front end damage in the eastbound lanes of travel facing westbound and a red, 2007 Acura RDX with extensive driver side damage on Buckingham Drive in the southbound lane facing northbound. The investigation revealed that the Saturn was traveling Eastbound on State Highway 37 when it collided with the Acura, which was turning left at the intersection, from Bone Hill Road onto State Highway 37 Westbound.
The driver of the Acura, 51-year-old Kunie Brown of Manchester Township, had to be extracted from his vehicle; he was flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for treatment where he remains in critical condition.
The driver of the Saturn, a 17-year-old man from Lakehurst, was taken to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
A passenger in the Saturn, 21-year-old Brandon Carman of Lakehurst, was taken to a hospital where he is currently listed in stable condition.
Authorities say all three people involved in the crash all had their seat belts on and both vehicles had multiple airbag deployments.
The MTPD says, "the investigation into this crash is still ongoing, but at this point, disregarding a traffic signal appears to be the primary contributing factor."
