It's a scene becoming all too familiar across the country: lines of cars waiting to receive food donations.

Today, those vehicles were driven by casino workers to the former Shore Mall in Egg Harbor Township.

The traffic buildup around the mall from all directions was a sign of the need of the roughly 33,000 furloughed Atlantic City casino employees as hundreds were expected at the pickup site today, many of whom have been out of work for a month.

Off Tilton Rd., Black Horse Pike (north and southbound), Washington Ave., West Jersey Ave., a steady stream of drivers waited to have casino I.D.s checked, before being routed around the mall to have their goods loaded.

A jam on all those road happened as a result of the process, but I have to say, this was one of the times in my life I wasn't complaining about being stuck in traffic. I was more than happy to exercise patience knowing that people in need were being served.

The donations were distributed by the Community Food Bank of New Jersey.
