Tropicana Atlantic City Casino Speaks out Against Offshore Wind
We have obtained a letter that has been sent to Atlantic City residents, who are employees of the Tropicana Atlantic City casino hotel.
It clearly outlines that the Tropicana Atlantic City is opposed to the implementation of offshore wind farm off of the Atlantic City coastline.
The idea is universally opposed, yet politicians continue to push this idea upon an unwilling public.
Tropicana Atlantic City has advised all of its Atlantic City residents about a petition that is presently circulating to oppose Ordinance # 74 of 2024, writing;
“The construction of the offshore wind farm, which is scheduled to take over 2 years, involves the installation of underground cables, which will impact street traffic in the areas from Sovereign to lowa and Atlantic to Fairmount for the periods of time as shown on the attached map. We anticipate that this street construction will likely have a negative impact on business for our Tropicana Atlantic City property as well,” wrote The Tropicana Atlantic City.
Atlantic City Councilman George Tibbitt has been warning the residents of Atlantic City just how disruptive this project will be for many stable neighborhoods in Atlantic City.
Tibbitt has also regularly stated his objection of the installation of high power electrical lines throughout stable neighborhoods of Atlantic City.
Because of the Atlantic City flood tables, these power lines will only be able to be buried several feet deep.
Tibbitt has publicly addressed the potential health implications, along with two years of disruption to the daily lives of Atlantic City.
Tropicana also wrote to its Atlantic City employees that:
“As a resident of the City of Atlantic City, we are writing to make you aware of the City Council's recent approval, by a vote of 5-4, of an ordinance granting certain permissions in connection with the construction of an offshore wind farm off the Atlantic City coastline. Tropicana Atlantic City as contacted by certain residents of the Chelsea section of Atlantic City who are opposed to this project and requested that we advise our employees, who are also residents of Atlantic City, that the attached Atlantic Shores Turbine Cable Routes and Objection Petition is being circulated should you wish to object to the City Council's recent actions. We have been advised that if 1000 Atlantic City residents sign this petition by January 6, 2025, a hearing will be held before final approval of this ordinance.”
Here is a copy of the Tropicana letter sent to their employees who are residents of Atlantic City, followed by more Atlantic City photos.
