
Two Arrested, Gun Recovered in Atlantic City
A motor vehicle stop led to the arrest of a man and a woman and the recovery of a loaded handgun in Atlantic City Thursday.
The APCD says at around 11:30 Thursday morning, detectives conducted a motor vehicle stop at Virginia and Atlantic Avenues after observing traffic and equipment violations.
Cops say as a detective was speaking to the driver, 23-year-old Ameer Hamilton of Atlantic City, he could smell marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Hamilton and his passenger, 20-year-old Jacqueline Jones of Atlantic City, were arrested after the detective found marijuana inside the vehicle. While searching Jones, she was found in possession of a loaded handgun.
Hamilton was chargee with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and motor vehicle summons.
Jones was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
Both were remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
