Two Arrested in Connection to Shooting Death of a Man in Atlantic City Monday
A man from the Lehigh Valley and a woman from Pleasantville were both arrested in Pennsylvania Tuesday morning in connection to the shooting death of a man in Atlantic City Monday afternoon.
Lehighvalleylive.com reports 31-year-old Lewis A. Johnson of Wilson Borough, PA, who also has an address in Newark, and 35-year-old Shaquana T. Lewis of Pleasantville, were arraigned Tuesday morning before a judge as fugitives from justice.
The report says Johnson is charged in Atlantic City with killing a person who court papers list as "C.W." by shooting that person "multiple times."
Authorities in Pennsylvania were alerted by Atlantic City police that suspects in the killing of a 17-year-old man in the city Monday afternoon could be in the area.
Johnson is charged with first degree murder and second degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. Lewis is charged with first degree murder and first degree conspiracy to commit murder, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.
In a statement, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner said, "I want to commend the Major Crimes Unit, the Atlantic City Police Department, the Wilson Borough, PA Police Department and the Pennsylvania State Police SWAT Team for the swift identification and apprehension of two individuals suspected in the shooting death of a 17 year-old male in Atlantic City on Monday. After all the challenges that we are currently confronted with in this country, the lack of value for human life still puzzles me. I am hopeful that the family of the victim has some measure of comfort knowing that those suspected of causing the death of their loved one are in police custody."
The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office and the Atlantic City Police Department continue to investigate the shooting.
