A nasty accident early this morning between two dump trucks working on a road paving project sent two people to area hospitals.

Hamilton Township police say the accident happened around 3:30 this morning on Route 50 near County Boulevard, not too far from the Atlantic City Expressway. Two dump trucks, traveling to and from a road paving project on Route 30, collided head-on. A preliminary investigation says the trucks were driven by Lionell Powell of Millville and Shawn Virgillo of Bridgeton. Both vehicles were contracted by Seashore Asphalt for the paving operation. Powell was trapped in the wreckage and extracted from the vehicle. Both drivers were taken to ARMC for treatment.
