Why You May See a Forest Fire in Galloway Wednesday

This is advance notice about the smoke and flames you may see around Galloway Township Wednesday and why you shouldn't be concerned.

A controlled burn is scheduled for 4PM Wednesday in a portion of the forest around Stockton University as part of the the forest management plan.

The state Department of Environmental Protection plans to burn about 6.6 acres of forest in order to eliminate underbrush and thin out trees, promoting a healthier forest and reducing the possibility of wildfires.
